The night starts late — later than you think
Clubs in Santiago open between 10 and 11 PM, but almost nobody is there yet. The crowd arrives after midnight and the peak is between 1 and 3 AM. Most places close around 4:30 AM.
If you show up at 10:30 PM you will walk into an empty room. The upside: no queue, and entry is usually free or much cheaper at that hour.
Friday and Saturday are the strong nights. Thursday has its own younger, university crowd. Sunday only works on long weekends.
How much it costs, and why the price changes during the night
Most parties price entry in tiers: free or very cheap until a set hour, then rising in two or three steps as the night goes on. It is how producers spread out arrivals instead of having everyone show up at 1:30 AM.
So the number that matters is not the ticket price — it is the cut-off time. Every party lists it in its entry conditions.
Buying ahead is normally cheaper than paying at the door, and for parties that sell out it is the only way to guarantee entry.
Guest lists: how locals get in free
The guest list is the most used mechanism in Chilean nightlife and the least obvious to visitors. Someone creates a list under their name, shares a link, and everyone who signs up through it gets in free or discounted until a set hour.
You do not need to know anyone at the venue. Anyone can create their own list, and whoever signs up gets a QR ticket by email.
The catch is the cut-off time. After it, the QR still gets you in, but at the going rate. Arriving before the cut-off is literally the difference between paying and not paying.
Practical things
The Metro closes around 11 PM, so plan on ride-hailing apps to get home. Fares surge between 3 and 5 AM when the clubs empty out.
